Coppell Volleyball opened the GCISD Tournament with a 3-0 win over Aledo before falling to McKinney Boyd 3-1 later in the day at Colleyville Heritage High School.
The Cowgirls started strong against Aledo, earning the sweep with set wins of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-22.
Coppell then faced McKinney Boyd and dropped the first two sets, 25-15 and 25-15. The Cowgirls responded with a 25-23 win in the third set before Boyd closed out the match 25-18 in the fourth.
Brooke Felix led Coppell across the two matches with 42 kills and 20 digs. Finley Penniman added 23 kills, while Taylor Mechsner finished with 19.
Zoey Ponsen directed the offense with 79 assists and 13 digs. Defensively, Hailey Chew recorded 28 digs, Addi Howard added 16 digs and four aces, and Alette Brown finished with 15 digs.
With the split, Coppell moves to 7-6 on the season.
